Illustration Career

Dave Cutler is a graduate with honors from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Before SVA Dave attended Rutgers University where he wasted a lot of his parents money before realizing he wanted to become an illustrator. He is a proud (but bad example) member of the Society of Illustrators (when inducted into SOI, the usual juried vote was waived).

Over the years, he's been commissioned by publications, corporations and organizations throughout the world. His originals and prints are in the private collections of corporations such as BOSTON CONSULTING GROUP, FIRST REPUBLIC BANK (remember them?), CAQH, MERCEDES-BENZ, IBM, SAS, ADP, MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER, the UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO HOSPITALS and several others.
Dave's work has been featured in SBS DIGITAL DESIGN and AMERICAN ARTIST and he was interviewed by NPR, NBC, among others about his work.

Dave has won several awards for his illustrations from most of the major industry organizations including the Society of Illustrators, PRINT, Society of Publications Designers, Art Director Club and several others.
His illustration originally created for the 1996 NYC Marathon poster, featuring the two World Trade Center towers, is now part of the permanent collection at the Sept 11th Memorial Museum in New York City. Another of Dave's illustrations, this one about about the tragedy, was one of only 50 paintings selected from worldwide submissions to displayed at the United Nations to commemorate the 10th anniversary of that terrible day.

His one and only children's book (so far), When I Wished I Was Alone was named a Best of Read to Me Picture Book by Borders and was featured by Barnes & Noble the year it was published.
Outside Work
Dave, his wife Carol and their adorable Bernedoodle named Charlie live near beautiful downtown Westport, CT. His son Dylan is a senior engineer at Google and his daughter Chelsea is a rising singer/songwriter who has headlined sold-out Radio City Music Hall shows among many others.
As proud parents, Dave and his wife strongly recommend catching one of Chelsea's tours and using Goggle products and services.
Dave's other passion is inventing for which he has received a number of US patents. He also enjoys making attempts at being funny, watching great movies, napping (don't judge– JFK loved naps) sailing, hiking, playing poker with good friends, and most of all– cheesecake.
